Soil Analysis
A soil analysis is a process by which elements (phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, sulfur, manganese, copper and zinc) are chemically removed from the soil and measured for their "plant available" content within the sample. The quantity of available nutrients in the sample determines the amount of fertilizer that is recommended. A soil analysis also measures soil pH, humic matter and exchangeable acidity. These analysis indicate whether lime is needed and, if so, how much to apply. We offer a soil analysis for $35.00, we submit the soil analysis to the UT Extension office and they send it to their lab for testing, it usually takes a few weeks for the results. Getting a soil analysis and waiting a few weeks can save you months of work by having the correct soil condition for planting.
